Science and faith in God are poles apart. Science has a
reason for everything whereas faith is blind. Kamiya Mohan Jani catches up with
a doctor who not only believes in God but can also talk to him
“I speak to Sai Baba and see him everywhere
around me,” avers Dr Chitra Nigoo, who is a Gynaecologist and Obstetrician.
Nigoo started her practice in 1977 and two years later started a maternity
hospital in the area.
She states that since childhood, she has been experiencing many miracles and
has been communicating with God in her own way. “We are born with a balance
sheet of our past karmas, and we need to neutralize the negativity by doing
good karmas and strong prayers,” she explains.
Dr. Nigoo believes that she has been bestowed with these supernatural powers
due to various reasons, one being the fact that her grandfather had managed to
get Gayatri Siddhi, wherein he could predict the future of people by looking at
their faces.
Although her sisters could not inherit this unique ability to communicate with
God she was able to do so from a very early age. “Probably this is because of
my past connections with God. Even in college days I had a very strong sixth
sense,” she informs.
There are many people in her neighborhood who go to her with their problems.
According to local residents Dr Nigoo keeps one hand on the idol of Sai Baba
and the other on the visitors head and gets telepathic answers.
“Her counseling has really changed my life. Everybody in our colony treats her
as second to God,” says Christina D’silva, a local resident who has visited her
on many occasions. The best thing, locals claim about Dr Nigoo, is that she has
kept idols of Jesus Christ, photos of the holy prophet, Gautam Buddha, and
various Hindu Gods in the same temple.
When questioned if she seeks help from God while treating her patients she
replies in the negative. “Unless it is very serious I refrain from doing so,”
she says and adds, “However if I am in the temple on my seat, it is not Dr.
Nigoo who speaks, it is Sai Baba who does the talking.”
When asked how she can manage to connect science and faith as the same time she
declares that it is scientifically proven that God exists. She firmly believes
that one must have faith but not blind faith. “People who take money from
others to solve their problems through God are agents and not guides,” she
believes and says that God has sent guides like her everywhere who don’t help
people for money.
She states that each one of us knows the difference between right and wrong and
we all have hidden powers amongst us. “We just need to develop them with
prayers and concentration,” she concludes.
