THE most interesting challenge is to simplify the most complicated things. Be it guys or languages, only difficult ones are liked to be unsolved. Finding difficult guys is difficult but spotting a difficult language was a simpler job. I prefer taking over a simple task first. So, the most difficult language, in my opinion, is/are South Indian languages. Yes, they all sound the same. From Tamil to Telugu, from Kannad to Malayalam and many more.
I picked up Tamil not because it's the simplest one but only because I got a teacher whom I don't have to pay. My colleague, Gayathri Madhavan, originally from Chennai and accidently from Mumbai. She can't speak Hindi for nuts so I pay her in kind by teaching Hindi to her. Ofcourse, she is better student than I am, which is obviously because Hindi is better (simpler) than Tamil. I am sure Tamilians will disagree. Coming back to the point, let me write down the words I have learnt in the last one month.
Let's start with some decent stuff:
What's your name? Un Peru Enna?
My name is Kamiya: En Peru Kamiya
How are you? Epadi iruke
I am fine: Naan nalla iruken
Did you have lunch?: Saapata achaa?
Just like that: Chumma
I love you: Na Una Kadal ikurein
Yes: amam
Thank you: Nandri
Thanks a lot: Rombha Nandri
Now some bad stuff:
Don't talk too much: Rombha Pesade
Idiot: Maangamadiya
Horrible:Kandravi
Get lost: Poda Dai
I don't like it: Piddacally
No: Illai
Headache: Tala vali
Backache: Mudughu vali
Sparrow's nest: Kuruvi koodu
Not just this, I also learnt a Tamil song, which goes like:
Style style than (Whatta style)
Super style than (Whatta super style)
Style Kethu Myle Naan Than (And I am the only one who would compliment to your style)
Style style than (Whatta style)
Super style than (Whatta super style)
Yes, Tamil songs are as bad as some of our Hindi songs which make no sense. But yeah, they sound GOOD!
Anyway, Na Una apprama paku rein! (I'll see you later)
